What are special education and early intervention programs?
 

Special Education and early intervention programs are specially designed programs offered at no cost to families of children with disabilities, ages birth to 5 years.

 
What should I do if I think my toddler or preschooler needs special services?
 

If you think your child needs special educational services you will first need to find out if he/she are eligible. Establishing eligibility through an Evaluation is the first step.

What is an Evaluation?
 

The Evaluation determines whether a child has a disability and the extent of the special education and related services the child needs. This information may come from:

- Your child's medical history;
- Developmental tests given to your child;
- Observations and feedback from all members of the Assessment Team, including parents;
- Any other relevant observations, records, and/or reports about your child.

 
Who conducts my child's evaluation?
 

Your child's evaluation will be conducted by a multidisciplinary team of professionals including a special educator, psychologist, speech pathologist, social worker and other appropriate clinical professionals.

 
Will I have to pay for an evaluation or any services my child may be eligible for?
