The Children's Center For Early Learning was established in 1996 to provide educational and therapeutic services to children with developmental delays. The program annually serves approximately 150 children aged three to five years in center based programming. Additionally, each year it conducts between 100-200 multi disciplinary evaluations of children who are referred for a determination of their eligibility for services.

The Children's Center For Early Intervention is the sister program of The Children's Center For Early Learning and annually serves approximately 250 children ages birth to three years in a combination of centerbased and homebased programming.

The mission of The Children's Center is to provide quality intervention for children with special needs in the hope that its graduates will be able to integrate into the general education population with minimal or no further support.

Over the years of its existence, The Children's Center has served over 2000 children and employed over 300 professionals who benefited from continuous training and multi-disciplinary collaboration. It is this level of front line experience that gives The Children's Center its expertise in delivering quality services to the right children at the right time by the right people.

The Children's Center's program for children with disabilities and their families includes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for young children on the autism spectrum (ASD) or children with a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD). The physical space of our ABA classrooms is organized to maximize student directed activities by delivering discrete trial therapy within a natural setting. Curricular goals are individually scripted to meet each child's needs in the following domain areas: Verbal behavior, social skills, school self-sufficiency, physical motor, cognitive and play skills. The program includes a comprehensive homebased component when appropriate.

The Children's Center is a partner in research/service activities with Columbia University, Teachers College faculty and students and maintains clinical affiliations with Brooklyn College, Long Island University, Adelphi University and Touro College.
